Race 2 | Reno – Rattlesnake Roundup
The second race of the Nevada League takes us to Hidden Valley Regional Park. Known by locals as the go-to mountain bike trails regardless of weather or time of year, Hidden Valley provides a sharp contrast from the tree line trails of the Tahoe XC nordic center. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen as shade is as scarce as yellow jackets! Use caution at this venue and stay on the trail as embedded rocks lie just to the side, hidden amongst the ground cover. Previously called the Wild Horse Roundup the name was changed to Rattlesnake after a surprise visit from a few of our reptilian friends last year. Make a special mental note of passing areas as there’s much less double track; your strategy, including verbal communication, of when and where to safely pass will be a great trail user learning experience. Both middle and high student athletes will navigate the same 3.95 mile course with approximately 325’ of climbing per lap.
All racers can pre-ride and inspect Saturday afternoon (1:00PM-4:00PM) and Sunday morning (8:00AM-9:00AM). We recommend all riders pre-ride the course. Please pass course workers with great care. For complete event details download the Race Flyer above.
